At the core, the manufacturing and inspection capabilities have permitted LUFKIN to produce gear units where capacities reach 60,000 kW, rotation speeds up to 60,000 rpm (180 m/s) and torques of 100,000 mdaN.
To obtain this level of performance, LUFKIN has installed high precision machining, gear tooth generating and grinding equipment.
LUFKIN has also made significant investments in inspection and control equipment to ensure all products meet high quality levels. All rotating elements are dimensionally inspected with a Höfler CNC gear checker. Each casing is geometrically inspected using 2 three-dimensional Poli coordinate measuring machines working in tandem, with a space measuring capacity covering 20 m3.
LUFKIN uses skilled technicians to perform mechanical tests, metallurgical controls and non destructive testing. All inspection results are compiled into a documentation package for each project and can be provided as required.
In 1975, LUFKIN began establishing a Quality Assurance system which has resulted in obtaining ISO 9001 Certification.
